INTRODUCING REVOLUTION

If you get angry about half the world living on less than £1 a day while eight companies control more wealth than 3 billion people...

If you hate the way the West bleeds the Third World dry through the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank and the World Trade Organisation...

If you are against Bush and Blair’s plans to bomb Iraq and think Israel’s oppression of the Palestinians has to stop...

If you want to see racists like the BNP driven off our streets...

If you want action now to save the environment from
destruction by big business...

If you’re sick of media spin, slick advertising and the corporate lie machine...

If you want a world free of militarism, multi-millionaires and market madness the REVOLUTION is for you.

What we do
Revolution is an activist youth organisation. We launch and take part in a wide range of campaigns against injustice, exploitation and oppression. We have groups and activists in North London, South London, Cardiff, Newcastle, Manchester, Sheffield, Birmingham and Coventry.

But that’s not all. REVOLUTION is an international movement, with active groups in Sweden, France, Germany, Austria, Czech Republic, Australia, Slovakia and Ukraine.

Here are just some of the campaigns we’ve been involved in.

Against Sweatshop Slavery
REVOLUTION kicked-off No Sweat, Britain’s biggest campaign against the use of child labour and appaling pay in Third World sweatshops run by mega-corporations like Nike and Gap. We’ve held protests outside stores, invaded Niketown in Oxford Circus and organised solidarity with strikers in a Mexican Nike factory. We organised a World Anti-Nike day with protests all over the world.

Anti-War
As soon as the bombing of Afghanistan started, REVOLUTION was out on streets demonstrating, outside Downing Street, across Britain and in the cities of 7 other countries. We took part in the 300-strong teach in at London’s SOAS university, launched a school students’ petition against the war and held school debates against pro-war speakers.

We’ve were on the streets outside the Israeli embassy to protest against the occupation of the Palestine and the massive human rights violations that have been committed against the Palestinians.
Many Revo members went to Palestine this summer to actively help the Palestinian communities on the front line of Israeli aggression.

May Day
REVOLUTION was centrally involved in the organisation of last three May Day Actions in London. We argued that people should defy the ban on mass protests on May Day.

International anti-capitalist protests
REVOLUTION has mobilised activists from all over Europe to go to all the major international anti-capitalist protests. We were in Nice, Melbourne, Prague, Gothenburg, Genoa, Brussels, Barcelona, and we even managed to make it New York. At all the summits we have taken part in direct action against these meeting of representatives of the world’s richest countries.

What we stand for
The Independent on Sunday got it right in an ‘expose’ of REVOLUTION’s involvement in organising May Day 2001. It said: “REVOLUTION wants to build a revolutionary socialist mass movement and overthrow capitalism.”

Exactly right. We are opposed to capitalism and the misery, alienation, war and environmental destruction it creates.

We support all struggles for progressive changes, but we do not believe that the capitalist elite will allow their wealth and privilege to be voted out of existence. We believe it will take force to take the power and property away from the few and into the hands of the many.

We reject terrorism and isolated acts by tiny groups. Instead we believe a mass movement needs to be built based on the support of the majority of the people – the working class. It is the working class that produces all the wealth in this society. The working class has no interest in keeping capitalism going. And the working class has the power, the size and the traditions of organisation to bring this rotten system crashing down.

We want to overcome every barrier that the capitalists use to divide us and weaken our struggles. We fight all forms of discrimination and oppression, whether on grounds of sex, race, nationality or sexuality.

We are internationalists, not nationalists. Capitalism is a global system, so we have to fight it globally. We want to leave the borders and divisions of nations behind and move forward to a truly global and united humanity, without bigotry, war and class division.
We stand shoulder to shoulder with our sisters and brothers in the Third World struggling to break free of the trillion dollar debt, the IMF, WTO and NATO.

We fight alongside anyone we share a goal with. And we organise for revolution – the only solution to the world’s woes. A socialist society would be based on direct democracy, collective ownership and democratic planning of the economy for human need, not private greed.

That’s what we stand for. If you want to help, you can join us today.

In REVOLUTION you won’t be a pawn in a group run by unelected people who boss you about. REVOLUTION is owned and controlled by its members. There are a wide range of different views, ideas and interests in REVOLUTION – everyone can have a say and we make all our decisions democratically.
