WE'VE DECLARED WAR...

Capitalism causes racism, it uses it to justify slavery and war, to legitimise military occupations and colonialism. Capitalism seeks to create division in the working class, to turn us against each other and waste our energies fighting other workers when we should be uniting and fighting the system as whole.

Racism is a centuries old theory that is used to justify a global system of discrimination against ethnic minorities. It stems from Britain’s role as a colonial power - seizing control of Africa and India and looting them of food, minerals and precious stones. In Africa the British ruling class found a massive supply of cheap manpower waiting to be tapped. 115 million Africans were forcibly removed and taken to work against their will in America on cotton, tobacco and sugar plantations. At home, the British ruling class attempted to present themselves as democrats and "good christians". To justify this system of cruel and despicable exploitation the capitalists developed the theory of modern racism.

Today, imperialism has not died. The advanced capitalist states are still imperialists that exploit the former colonies and keep billions of people below the poverty line. These countries who the imperialists call the "third world" are independent in all but name: they are semi colonies. And how do the capitalists justify this oppression? Through racism of course. We are told that "backward" countries are just "lazy", and that Africans can’t be trusted not to kill each other (just don’t ask who sold the warlords and dictators their guns!).

While justifying imperialism, they also use it to justify problems on the "home front". Under funded services, attacks on pay and conditions? Don’t blame the rich and powerful - scapegoat ethnic minorities. The latest victims of racism are asylum seekers. All across Europe governments are warning of the "flood" of "economic migrants" and "benefit tourists". We say that those fleeing war, poverty and super exploitation are welcome here.

REVOLUTION understands that racism is what the capitalists use to hold back the class struggle in Britain and across the world. As long as we are divided by our skin colour we cannot unite to smash capitalism. REVOLUTION we also know that youth must play a crucial role in fighting against the racists. Historically young people have been at the forefront and fighting end of the struggles against racism and fascism. We want to harness this radicalism to beat the fascists and fight racism. But not only that we want to build a fighting fighting revolutionary movement for socialism. Only when we have smashed capitalism can we truly free ourselves from all forms of discrimination.

REVOLUTION, at its conference in 2004 we decided that we would Organise Against Racism.

We will fight against all forms of racism including:
We will fight State racism. This means fighting back against Blunkett’s draconian ID Cars. Fighting back against his anti terrorism laws that target Muslim groups and civil liberties. Fighting back against the institutionally racist police and their SUS laws that criminalise communities.

We oppose the media’s lies about asylum seekers. From the corporate papers owned by millionaires to the state owned BBC everywhere we are fed a diet of racism. While the papers of the press barons preach about welfare scrounging asylum seekers their owners live in tax exile abroad. Meanwhile the BBC panders to their racist and pro war agenda. We will mobilise to take direct action against the racist rags, the Bush Blair Corporation and all the racist media institutions.

We will organise against the Fascists. In Britain this means fighting the likes of the BNP, White Nationalist Party and all the other fascist organisations. Their ultimate goal is to create a mass fascist party and then launch a race war in this country that will tear our communities apart. The BNP may now be wearing suits but this doesn’t hide the fact that they are a fascist front party with fascist goals. We will organise to physically drive them off the streets. We say No Platform for their hate and terrorist campaign.

We will be re-launching out international campaign for the immediate release of Mario Bango! Our Slovakian Comrade has been unjustly sentenced to 12 years imprisonment for the ‘crime’ of defending his brother from a Fascist skinhead thug. We reaffirm our commitment to the slogan ‘self defence is no offence!’

We will fight to defend asylum seekers from attacks by fascists and the state. We will not let the victims of capitalism be scapegoated by the capitalists to explain away all the problems of their system. That’s why we will fight all border controls – if money can cross borders so can people! I
